An Electrifying Night: Our Family’s Experience with ‘SIX’ Broadway in Austin -

Last Fall we ventured to see the ‘SIX’ U.S. Tour on Broadway in Austin, from the last row of the second balcony, affectionately known as the ‘nosebleeds’. And guess what? The experience was nothing short of electrifying!

Perched high above the stage, we could feel the palpable energy of the performance radiate through the theater. Every song, every dance move, and every powerful dialogue resonated with us, proving that a great show transcends its viewing location. ‘SIX’, with its vibrant retelling of the stories of Henry VIII’s wives, was a powerhouse of emotion and talent that reached even the farthest corners of the auditorium.

One thing to note, however, is that ‘SIX’ does delve into more mature themes. We were comfortable with our kids experiencing it, but I recommend parents give the soundtrack a listen beforehand. It’s a great way to gauge if the content is suitable for your little ones.

For those planning a family outing to see ‘SIX’, here are five tips to make your experience unforgettable:

  1. Preview the Music: As mentioned, listen to the ‘SIX’ soundtrack. Not only does it help in deciding its appropriateness for your children, but it also gets them excited about the show.
  2. Educate on the History: Give your kids a quick history lesson about Henry VIII and his wives. It’ll enhance their understanding and enjoyment of the show.
  3. Plan for Comfort: In the nosebleeds, binoculars can be a fun addition for kids to feel more connected to the action.
  4. Arrive Early: To make the most of the experience, get there early. It’s a chance to soak in the atmosphere and avoid any rush.
  5. Discuss Afterwards: Take time after the show to talk about it with your kids. It’s a great way to engage with them and hear their perspectives.

‘SIX’ is a vibrant, thought-provoking musical that offers a unique blend of history and pop culture. From our high-up seats, we were able to enjoy the spectacle fully and were reminded that the magic of theater knows no bounds. Whether you’re up close or in the last row, ‘SIX’ promises an exhilarating experience for musical lovers.
